Whether your contribution is time, talents, financial gifts, or ideas, it all makes a positive difference to The Arc. We welcome and appreciate volunteers who represent all ages, abilities, and ethnic backgrounds.
We are members of The Arc of Massachusetts and also of The Arc of the United States. The Arc is the world’s largest community based organization of and for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It provides an array of services and support for families and individuals and includes over 140,000 members affiliated through more than 730 state and local chapters across the nation. The Arc is devoted to promoting and improving supports and services for all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The Arc of Greater Haverhill-Newburyport believes people need a strong support network of family and friends. We also believe in creating a meaningful place for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the community. Here is how you can be part of the The Arc:
Volunteering offers an experience that money can’t buy – it really prepared me for the real world of paid work. Not only did it help me decide the career I wanted to pursue and provide me with a foot in the door but it had an enormous effect on my wellbeing too. I was out of work after I gave up my career in retail and as a result felt really alone and isolated. Volunteering gave me a sense of self worth and normality again – it’s empowering because it’s a means of learning and developing new skills.
